Sand Sculptures

For the last couple of weeks we have watched in amazement as an empty lot near the beach became a freak show full of weird stuff made of sand.  In the past Frankston has chosen more majestic themes for the sand sculptors like the Wonders of the World and characters from folklore, but this year they went with "Creepy crawlers."
I have no idea how they get the sand sculptures to be so structurally sound, or how they keep the rain from destroying them every night.  Even the little tiny fleas and spiders stay in perfect condition.

If this were an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, these sculptures would have been made of enchanted sand so that the monsters would come to life to attack the people of Sunnydale.  I'm 97% sure that won't happen.
You can tell that everyone who walks by the sculptures is using every ounce of self control not to just dive right into them.  I wanted to touch them so much, but social pressures held me back.
Jeff is a big Tim Burton fan, so these are right up his alley.
Since we had a picture of Jeff in front of a sculpture, we figured we better have on of me too.  Like my hat?  It's a Men's XXL.

We are moving to our new house this weekend, which means we will have to leave our two foster dog friends!  We will miss these little goofy guys so much!
