The Healesville Sanctuary has been on our to do list for a while now. The Sanctuary is a favorite tourist spot because they only keep Australian animals. Now that we have moved to Wantirna we are living close to it so we took a trip out to the mountains to take some pictures.
These cockatoos are pretty common around here. They are beautiful to see in the yard but their squawking is very loud.
This emu was hoping that we had food. It was also considering pecking another tourists eyes out since she was standing so close to her.
A few dingos (I'm guessing they are looking at a nearby baby).
Liz rates the swamp one thumb up!
This is a very regal looking hooded lizard.
I couldn't help myself. The sanctuary wants people to use toilet paper made from recycled office paper. Luckily we already buy that kind so we didn't have to feel guilty.
Quick Fact: Wombats are 90% butt.
These are the flying foxes, fruit bats that can have up to 6ft wingspan.
We constantly hear these Kookaburras laughing out in the woods.
Wallabies
Feeding time for the red and grey kangaroos.
This kangaroo was as tall as me when he stood up. This one took a break from eating to stand up and have a scratch.
The Koalas were kind enough to sleep close to the walkway so we could get a good picture.
Three echidna trying to fit though the same hole in a log.
This is a picture of a platypus from the internet, the room it was in was way too dark to a picture. They look sort of like otters with duck bills and are much more graceful that we imagined they would be.
We also couldn't get a good picture of the Tasmanian devil since he was moving around so fast.
We set out some bird seed on the deck to lure these parrots in for a picture. It's crazy to have cockatoos and parrots hanging out in our backyard everyday.

It appears you had a great visit, swampland, crapman, and more. As a former wastewater treatment operator, I can relate to crapman.
