Footy finals (kinda)!

Today was the footy grand final! The big game was between Saint Kilda and Collingwood. We have been barracking for Saint Kilda since we got here so we were exited to watch. We decided to celebrate with fried food.

Homemade beer-battered onion rings with aoli!  They taste as good as they look.

We decided to make one of our culinary dreams come true by making miniature pumpkin pies (we haven't found any pumpkin desserts here so far, Australians think of pumpkin only as a squash).  This whipped cream was made from real cream!  And the pumpkin filling was made from...(wait for it)...a real pumpkin!  Yum.

The Magpies took a big early lead but the Saints made spectacular comeback. 

And the whole thing ended in a draw...  Look at those depressed players laying on the ground!  That's how all of Australia feels right now. But, it means we get to watch them do it all again next week!  There's no such thing as overtime during the grand finals, only re-dos.
